note as timber is a natural product we can only indicate general colours as these can vary considerably between batches and suppliers
cream with pale brown tones, occasional yellowish and pink streaks are often noticeable
colour consistency
generally the overall appearance of blackbutt floors is a light colour with noticeable variation in tones between individual boards
timber characteristics
usually straight grain, pin holes and gum veins are present in this timber. The appearance of gum veins and pin holes is reduced in the higher grades of the timber
What's good about this timber
It is a wonderful alternative to NSW blackbutt with a similar appearance but greater diversity in the floor resulting in timber floors of great interest.
The light tones of this timber make it ideal for staining with the grain being open enough to accept stains but the janka rating of 7.3 enabling sound impact resistance in comparison to other timbers that are often used for staining
As several species of timbers used, availability of this product is very good resulting in excellent value for money
What to be wary of with this timber
Whilst the average janka rating of 7.3 provides sound impact resistance for this timber, it is slightly less than the more well-known NSW blackbutt
bosch timber floors verdict!
A very good value for money proposition and in our opinion the final apearance on these floors looks better than the more well-known NSW blackbutt as a result of the greater diversity between boards
